Considerations in the Journey from Cascade to Acquia and Drupal

As leaders and technologists consider a move from legacy systems, including Cascade, to modern platforms such as those offered by Acquia through Drupal, there are a multitude of considerations:  in-house expertise, costs, time, supportability, the complexity of content migration, vetting development partners, etc.This session helps attendees navigate this complexity, offering a real-world analysis of what business and technology factors led the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University to embark on the journey toward Drupal.  Attendees will gain insight into the decision making process which included feedback from web develops to the highest levels of leadership.  Additionally, navigating a change of this magnitude within a semi-decentralized university carries with it its own set of challenges.  We will explore the nuances of centralized policies, procurement processes, contractual challenges, and the reconciliation of differing web strategies across a large institution such as Emory's.
